Be Careful…Don’t overreact to weather related Line Movements….This is the time of year where the astute sport bettor can really take advantage of the value in line movements.Injuries start to pile up and the weather starts to become a factor which normally will create line movements throughout the NFL and CFB schedule especially the totals lines. In most cases the general public wil “overreact” to an injury announcement or a inclement weather report assuming that because there may be some snow on the ground, the scoring will be lower and the underdog will have an advantage to the spread. College Football Notebook….
Wednesday Night Football…Rutgers @ South Florida….This is a matchup of two teams who do not fare well against the betting line. Rutgers is 1-5 against the spread and S. Florida is 2-4. Rutgers has won 3 games on the season and S. Florida has 4 wins. Rutgers has done well when installed as a road dog over the previous 4 years, racking up a 9-2 record in this situation (0-2) this year. Their offense is near anemic when on the road this year, as they are averaging only 208 total yards per game and 3.3 yards per play. Friday Night Football……W. Virginia -6.5 @ Connecticut…. Both of these teams are coming off conference losses in their last games. No big surprise for Uconn’s loss as they were a road dog at Louisville, but W. Virginia’s loss was surprising as they were upset on their home field by Syracuse 19-14. W. Virginia is 5-1 ATS and 6-0 SU against Uconn in their last 6 meetings. Two big stories that have the media humming over this game, the return of Randy Moss and the re-emergence of LaDanian Thomlinson. Most feel that the Moss/Favre connection is all the Vikings need to get to the post season…hmmm, maybe half that statement is right, but Favre had better pick it up. The way he is playing right now, he shoudl have put more consideration into retiring.

I was not a believer in the Jets this season, in fact I recommended a future play that they wouldn’t win 9 games, I am biting tongue right now as I am rapidly becoming a believer that they in fact are for real…LT is the difference in this team being in the playoffs or just remaining a one dimensional defensive team. Considering myself an outstanding handicapper and a “smart money” sport bettor, I have to say that this season of NFL has been nothing short of embarrassing for me. In talking with some of my peers, I found that most are experiencing the same problems. For those who are on the winning side, I congratulate you and hope your success continues, however, the “Joe’s” are heading for a big fall and it won’t be long for the “Smart money” players to once again prevail.
