Patriots/Saints..Too Obvious ??
Don’t be too quick to jump on the over…..There is little doubt this is a classic matchup between Super Bowl contending teams and should be one of the most entertaining games of the season to watch…Many bettors are jumping on the total in this game to go over the 56.5…looking at the trends it would be the obvious bet, however, I am wondering if this isn’t just a little too obvious…I don’t believe in what they call “trap games” but if one would fall into this category, this could be it.
Looking at the trends for the Over/Under on this game…All 20 trends that I was able to find for N. Orleans are favoring the over in this game while 10 of the 13 trends I found favor the over for N. England.
N. Orleans is averaging a league leading 37 points per game while N. England has put up 30 or more points in their last 4 of 5 games….N. England games have gone “over” the total 11-5 when installed as a road dog, while the Saints are 6-0 over the last six games as a home favorite….Doing a straight out statistical analysis of this game, it appears the total should be around 56 points so the linesmaker has hit it right on the statistical number….
This maybe meaningless seeing as these two have not met since 2005, but in the 7 games they played, six of them have gone over the total….The public may be overlooking the most recent defensive efforts of these two teams. It must be noted that in N. England’s last 8 games (excluding the Colts game) the Patriots have allowed opponents an average of only 14.3 points per game…the Saints have allowed only an average of 16.6 in their last 3 games.
I am not so sure that the over is as much of a lock as some may think..I would proceed with caution on this one…
