“Bounce Back” Week off to a good start….After suffering our first losing week in the past 6 weeks, we have started out nicely with a 4-1 night on Monday…We lost 14 units last week in football as we dropped three of our 3 Diamond top plays…It was the worst weekend in football I have ever had in my 18+ years in this business…Overall the week wasn’t a disaster as we did very well with our NBA and NHL…
NHL Continues to Roll….The NHL went 1-0 last night extending our winning days to 8 of the last 9…Our season record is now at a unbelievable 68.2% with a 43-20 record overall…We have run off a 19-6 (76.0%) streak in the past 8 days.
College Hoops Are Back…as we started out the season with a win on Murray State +14 last night over California…We normally do very well the beginning of a season because we are one of the few services that keep up with all 1-A teams throughout the year, so we feel we have an edge on the books as we have done our off-season homework.
Handicapping the 2nd half of the NFL…..This is the time of the season when you must do a lot of extra reading and paying close attention to the standings. There are teams that have no chance of making the playoffs, so when considering a play on or against these teams you must do some in depth reading of locker room reports, coaches interviews to determine the mindset and the strategy the coaches are going to be using in the remaining games…Are they going to start to look at a lot of their future starters, give extra rest to those suffering minor or nagging injuries. Is there some dissention or lack of enthusiasm in the locker room?…Many times by “reading between the lines” you are able to pick up valuable information that will help make a decision of a play or no play…
College Football Bowl Eligibility Watch….With some teams having only two games left on their regular schedule, some college teams are looking to become bowl eligible, while others are just playing out the season hoping to play the spoiler role…The mindset and emotional factor for teams that are out of it, is a little different than in the NFL….There are many more distractions for the college students than the NFL player…The NFL player is getting paid to do a job and, getting paid very well, so with upcoming free agency’s etc, the NFL player must continue to “do his job” to the best of his ability…whereas the college coaches have a much harder time keeping the emotions and mental positiveness at a peak when there is nothing left to play for except maybe pride…Again paying close attention to these scenarios is very important at this time of season…In addition to looking to become just bowl eligible, there are teams fighting for conference championships and BCS bowl bids…Check our blog daily from here on as I will be updating and pointing out upcoming games that fall into the above scenarios.
