Amazing Rationale From a Loser
It’s Friday Nov 6, 2009 at 7:30 am pacific..I’m just finishing my first cup of coffee when my phone rings. The caller is a sport bettor from Canada who is inquiring as to how to win betting sports…?? I really didn’t get the gist of the question until he explained to me that he is a hockey fanatic and loves betting the games, but he has lost nearly $5,000.00 so far this season betting $200 to $300 per game. He said he was referred to my site and saw that I have a very good winning record and wanted to know how I do it. Obviously I explained that I am in the business of giving sport betting advice and I do like to get paid for my service…that is the bottom line of running a business you know.
He went on about how he would never pay for a service to get picks as he does his own picking….DUH!…your down 5 grand and only betting 200.00..!!! I figured I would try to help this guy out, so I asked him a little about his handicapping strategy…He explained that he bets all the favorites over -150 on the puck line and he plays all the home dogs….and that was it..! Needless to say I was kind of stymied for a minute and at a loss for words as these are sure fire strategies to failure. I went on to explain a little of how to really handicap a sporting event but I knew this would be of no avail.
I explained that if his bottom line was making money betting sports, and wasn’t doing well himself, he should consider retaining a sport betting advisor…..Now here is the kicker……”that’s crazy, I should pay someone to get picks”?.. He went on to say that he would rather lose than pay a sport service…!!
I decided to take one last shot at this guy and explained that even those who play the stockmarket have professionals who help make intelligent decisions on where to risk their money, paying a sport service to help make decisions and make them money is a whole lot less expensive than paying a stock broker. And if that sport service did perform and make him money, then it was a good investment…I also gave him my fees showing that he could get a whole week of service for less than 1/3 of one of his $200.00 bets…
I am not writing this to plug my service, but to show that this is unfortunately a very typical example of why the bookmakers are able to stay in business…I get many such calls over the course of a season as I am sure do other services, and I have yet to understand the rationale except that in many cases it is thing called “ego”..”I would rather do it myself than pay someone”…That’s fine with me except that I really get upset when I have a first person experience with someone who will never do anything more than keep pouring hard earned money into the bookmakers pockets.
Most sport bettor’s are really in for the “action” and not looking at the bottom line which is, making money…If a game is on TV, they have to put a wager on it so they can watch their “action”…I will never understand the rationale of a losing sport bettor…My advice…”Get help or get out”
Good Luck
