It would appear that the game situation sets up nicely for Va. Tech as they will be in a revenge situation having been upset (-9) on their home field last year by E. Carolina 27-22. They are also in a bounce back situation as they were upset by N. Carolina last week 20-17 as a 15.5 point home favorite..They were also upset the week before by Ga Tech 28-23 and again on their home field…
However, if history tells us anything, the Hokies do not fare well in situations where they are coming off 2 consecutive ATS losses when they are installed as a 8+ favorite…They are only 1-7 covering the spread in that situation. They are 0-3 ATS on the road this year. There is little doubt they will have the defensive edge, but the Pirates have shown some offensive prowess in the last two games, putting up 87 points, but still indicative that the offense is running on all cylinders.
East Carolina is 11-0 in games following a straight up / against the spread win as a dog of 3 points or more..This will be only E. Carolina’s 3rd home game of the season against boarded teams, they are 2-0 SU and 1-1 ATS.
Tech will probably get the win, but I will take the home field advantage with E. Carolina +14.0 (buy 1/2 if necessary)…
